The Body Shop - Seize the Summer!

During a social media browse at lunchtime, I saw that a few of my blogger friends were in town for The Body Shop event. I thought I'd pop down to see everyone and find out what was happening. The girls at The Body Shop had laid on a brilliant event providing snacks and fancy drinks. I did gatecrash the event as I was supposed to RSVP but everyone was very welcoming.

We were shown their Summer body care including the new scent - Virgin Mojito! It smells SO GOOD! The way I'd describe it is that it smells like them Solero Shots that used to be around when we were younger. It's so fresh with a big hint of lime, however when you apply it you can definitely smell the mint coming through. It's so refreshing and perfect for the Summer months. I picked up a body butter.

There was also a raffle and a lucky dip raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust in which people picked some amazing goodies. It was a wonderful event and I wished I had time to stay longer but I had to get back to work. I will definitely be stocking up on everything Virgin Mojito before it disappears!

BIG Sea Salt Shampoo - Lush Review

Hi, I'm Danni and I'm a Lush addict. I bet you are too. Come on admit it, you have at least two bath bombs waiting to be sploshed into hot water for a colourful soothing soak in the tub. I certainly do, I have at least ten following the Boxing day sale. I kind of went crazy and got two gift sets and numerous half-price soaps. And on top of this, I also received gift sets for Christmas, so yes I am set for the entire year. Apart from all the smelly bath bombs, I decided to pick up a favourite of mine - Big Sea Salt Shampoo.

On Lush's website, it says to use a small amount of this shampoo - which is filled with sea salt, seaweed, coconut oil and lemon and lime - work into wet hair well to create a lather. At first, I was very dubious of Big's volumising claims, and I still kind of am. It definitely has all the makings of a great uplifting shampoo, but maybe I'm not doing it right. I should probably use less... But the real reason I am still in love with this shampoo is the way it makes my hair feel. After using Big my hair feels so clean. It actually squeaks. This doesn't mean that my hair feels dry at all because of the intense clean, quite the opposite it feels silky and smooth. I don't use this all the time as it is quite an intense shampoo, what will the large chunks of salt, but every week I get the satisfaction of making my hair super clean. Squeaky clean. It also smells amazing. At first, you may not think so, which happens with a few of the Lush products, but after a few washes, you will love it. It is so fresh and invigorating and the fragrance sticks to your hair after you've rinsed it all away. I'd urge you all to try this shampoo and I think I will try using a little less to see if this helps improve my volume! Do you have any Lush recommendations? I'd love to hear them as I'm obsessed with the shop and need a reason to visit again.

Lush Middlesbrough Blogger Event - Gorilla perfume volume 3 release

Last week I was invited along to Lush Middlesbrough's first blogger event to launch volume 3 of their Gorilla perfume; Death, Decay and Renewal. Lots of local bloggers congregated in the shop before the shutter was pulled down and the shop closed off to customers. It was a blogger's paradise being able to take as many photos as we wanted and try out all the products with no other customers! We were introduced to the Gorilla perfumes, specifically the three new perfumes, Kerbside Violet, Death and Decay, and All Good Things. We all had a good sniff and decided on our favourites. Mine was Kerbside Violet, it smelt like parma violets and the bubble bar Ultraviolet smells just like it!

The girls also showed us the Mother's Day products which included Ultraviolet, Yummy Mummy shower gel and Secret Garden bath bomb. I got a sample of the shower gel and it smells amazing! I would definitely recommend having a smell when you are in store next as you will want to take it home with you!

I really enjoyed this event, the girls did a brilliant job and it was great to see some other local bloggers. Being told about the background of the perfume and having the chance to stand and smell them all has made me consider buying one. Maybe I'll be smelling of a Lush Gorilla perfume sometime soon...

Honey Bee Lush Bath Bomb Review

I've recently become obsessed with Lush and their gorgeous bath products. Whenever I'm in I have to have a smell and add a new one to my basket. This is the first one of Lush’s bath ballistics that I used after having such a good experience with the bubble bars.

Honey Bee is described on the website as “a sweet-scented bath bomb with honey and rhassoul mud to soothe the skin”. The smell of this is so hard to describe as it doesn't instantly strike a memory of other scents. It is very sweet and doesn't smell strongly of honey as you’d expect which is why I like it as I'm not too keen on honey. When I asked my boyfriend and mum what they thought they said it smelt of sweets.

The look of the bath bomb is yellow and brown, almost like a bee...see what they did there! The brown part of this is rhassoul mud which I've found after researching on their website has natural cleansing properties and helps condition and moisturise the skin. When I popped this in my bath it created a great fizz and turned the water yellow. The smell fills the bathroom and creates a lovely soothing bath. The only bad thing I found was that there were little bits of what I assume to be the mud at the bottom of the bath and after the water was drained it left the bath yellow, but this is easily washed off.

After my bath, the smell lingered on my skin for quite a while which was gorgeous. This is my favourite bath ballistic so far, but I will let you know if something takes the top spot! I would definitely recommend this if you don’t mind giving your bath a little scrub when you get out.

Is it a lip crayon or a gloss?

I've never really been a fan of Soap and Glory. I was always gifted their hand food moisturiser for Christmas which really put me off the brand. I am more of a sweet fruity smell kind of girl and Soap and Glory was not that for me. I'll admit the brand has grown significantly since I first tried their products, they have added more product lines and become a very popular household name. Something that I wasn't aware of until recently is that they have a make-up line. As the lip crayon has taken over my world I was gifted these Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Sticks for Christmas and I was excited to try them out.

When I first set my eyes on this set in Boots and asked Santa for it for Christmas I was under the impression that these were lip crayons and on Christmas Day when I tried these out I was surprised to find that wasn't the case. If I'd read the name properly I would have realised these were gloss sticks but at  first it seemed so strange to me applying what I thought was a lip crayon and coming away with glossy lips with a hint of colour.

After some time adjusting and wearing these out a bit more I've come to really like these gloss sticks. They are much easier to apply that normal lip gloss due to the fact they are in a crayon form. You can have more precision and the formula means the gloss glides on nicely. At present I've only tried the middle called 'Plum Jam' which I really like as it gives a subtle red colour to my lips. I can't wait to see what the other two are like.
