Strawberry Lemonade Nails - Nail Art

I wanted to get back into nail art so I decided that I would ease myself in gently using a white nail art pen and some gorgeous spring colours. As you can see the nail art I've done is not hard to do, just dots and stripes, but I actually think they look really good.



The colours I used for this were OPI - I Just Can't Cope-acabana and Avon Speed Dry - Strawberry. Both are gorgeous colours seperatly but together they are brilliant and remind me of strawberry lemonade. I'm going to try and get a bit more creative this summer with my nail art and hopefully show you my creations!

Manicure Monday - So Fluffy I'm Gonna Die!

Today I wanted to try out one of my indie polishes by Glam Polish. Glam Polish is an Australian indie nail polish brand that create a host of gorgeous mixes. They came up with a collection inspired by Despicable Me which included this polish called 'So Fluffy I Wanna Die!'

I've applied this polish after two coats of OPI - Alpine Snow, my go to white nail varnish. The polish is basically a pink and yellow glitter which applies lovely. The look of this polish is so pretty, it is like having lots of little sprinkles on your nails.

Nail Art Weekly Project - Week 5

This is the last Nail Art Weekly Project! It's been so much fun creating themed manicures and seeing what everyone else has created. I can't believe it has gone by so quickly! I'm so pleased with the amount of people that have really committed to the project as they've all made it such a success and hopefully they've been inspired!

The last theme is Glitz and Glam! The sparklier the better! As I'd just bought Hey Baby from OPI's Gwen Stefani collection I wanted to incorporate this.

I underestimate how long manicures like this will take me but in the end I'm really pleased with the results. I may as well use the time while I'm young and free to do my nails! I used OPI - It's Frosty Outside for my pointing finger, Orly - Miss Conduct for my middle finger, and then OPI - Hey Baby for the others.

What do you think? Are these glitz and glam enough?

Nail Art Weekly Project - Week 3

This week's theme is Valentines Day! I had planned an extravagant manicure with quite a bit of nail art but I've been super busy and only just got internet back in the house. So I've decided that this Valentines Day I will do something simple.

I used OPI - Got a date to-knight and Alpine snow to create this polka dot manicure. I know it's a bit simple but I think it is cute!

Manicure Monday - Belle

Previously I took part in nail mail swaps with people from America and it was really good as I would get the chance to receive polishes I couldn't get in the UK. I've always been a lover of indie nail polishes so I asked if my nail mail buddy could get me some The Hungry Asian nail polishes. She bought me three mini polishes including the one I am wearing today!

If you haven't heard of The Hungry Asian, it's an indie nail polish brand owned by a lady called Kae based in the USA. She has the most amazing selection of hand mixed glitter nail polishes at quite reasonable prices.

To ensure I got the full effect of The Hungry Asian polish, Belle, I used OPI - Alpine Snow, as a base of two coats and then applied two coats of Belle on top. I then applied Seche Vite on top to make sure this manicure stayed on for a few days!

Belle is such a sweet polish, I really love how it looks on my nails. The polish is in a small bottle but it is still easy to work with, the formula is lovely to use. I can't wait to invest in some more The Hungry Asian polishes. I may have to get the boyfriend to buy me a few for Christmas.

Manicure Monday - Gloopy Nails

This manicure was supposed to be wholly one colour, that colour being Revlon, whimsical. In the bottle this is a lovely mint green with specks of pink and blue glitter. However after three coats of whimsical it still was no where near mint green. In order to improve this I decided to add something to my manicure, gloopy blue and pink tips to be exact.

The colours I used for the gloopy tips were Zoya - Robyn and Barry M - Grapefruit. Both are very pigmented colour and worked great for this nail art. In order to do the tips like this I blobbed some of the polish on to paper and used my dotting tool to apply it to the tip, dragging some down the nail to make the gloops.

A girly twist on a french manicure

When it comes time to refresh my nails I'm always looking for inspiration online. My latest manicure idea came from the Maybelline Facebook page.

I decided that this week I would try a twist on a french manicure by using a bold pink on my nail and a dark purple on the tip. Taking into account I have never even tried a french manicure before or used the nail stickers I think I did an okay job.

Now for how I achieved this manicure, here are 5 easy steps:

1. Prep your nails, neaten your cuticles and apply a base coat.
2. Paint your nails with the colour you want on your nail, here I have used Shorts Story - OPI
3. You can either wait for this to completely dry or use a fast drying topcoat. Then place the nail tip guide stickers on your nail. Note that the space you are leaving at the top of your nail will be painted in the other colour. Here I could have done with a little less space...
4. When all your stickers are in place paint the other colour on the tip, I've used Vant to Bite My Neck - OPI. Ensure that once you have painted the tip wait a few seconds then immediately remove before painting the next finger.
5. Finally, paint top coat over your nail to smooth it all over.

I'm off to Florence on Wednesday, so I am sure there will be another holiday manicure to show before I go.
